About Us

About Us

We are the oldest pack in the Apex/Cary area, and are chartered by the Apex Lions Club.  We are a diverse group and have a lot of fun.  We are part of the Crosswinds District of the Occoneechee Council.

Meetings are held at the Scout Hut in Apex’s Jaycee Park, near downtown Apex. The whole Pack meets the first Tuesday of the month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. while dens meet the other 3 weeks at a date & time determined by the den leaders & members..

Our pack has approximately 60 scouts consisting of 1st – 5th graders.

What We Do

  • Weekly Den Meetings
    • A den is a group of six to eight boys, within the pack, that meets several times a month between pack meetings. We go on outtings, make crafts, play games, perform skits, sing songs, and tell stories.
  • Monthly Pack Meetings
    • The pack meetings bring all the dens and familiies together once a month to meet as a larger group.  These meetings are used for dens to recognize scout achievements, perform skits, provide information to the families about upcoming events, and to recognize volunteers.
  • Family Camping (Once in Fall, Once in Spring)
    • The pack goes camping together with our families twice a year.  This typically occurs in Sept/Oct and in April/May.  We typically go to a campsite that is within 2 hours of the triangle, however we occasionally plan big trips.  This is a great opportunity to have fun with the families, to teach the scouts about camping, and have fun in nature and around a campfire.
  • Pinewood Derby (Takes place in Jan/Feb)
    • One of the best events of the year is the Pinewood derby. It’s an opportunity for the scouts to craft a car with their adult partners and pack members.  The pack has a race amongst ourselves.  This includes a tournament for the scouts and an open race for siblings and adults.  The top 3 racers from each level advance to the district race, where we get to show the crosswinds district how Pack 312 does it.
  • Blue and Gold Celebration (Takes place in Feb/Mar)
    • This event is to celebrate the work that the scouts have done throughout the year, and to celebrate the birthday of scouting.  This event is also aligned with the timing for the advancement of the oldest Webelos who have completed the Arrow of Light  to the Boy Scouts.
  • Summer Events
    • Several times throughout the summer the pack will get together to perform fun activities such as performing rocket launches, attending Durham Bulls Games, going Rollerskating, going Bowling, and we have an End of the Summer/Start of the Year Celebration every year as well.
